From the day we were conceived to the day we were born we are moving each and every muscle in our body. Most importantly the heart. This has to function 24 hours a day, 7 days a week no matter what. It takes no vacations not does it complain. So what do we do with all the muscle power that is being wasted walking, commuting, and other activities. Can we tap this mechanical energy and store it in batteries to power our homes? Imagine each of us carrying on our person a battery pack the size of our cell phone that gets charged from each of our mechanical activities. At the end of the day, we take out that battery and connect it to a large portal that powers our homes. When each grid of each house is connected together, that’s a few Gigawatts of power that we could use. That’s power in numbers. That’s 7 Billion Strong. Now Let’s not forget the animals both domesticated and wild. They could help us too from their movements. Even the momentum from our cars, trucks and buses can be tapped this way by incorporating micro turbines at strategic locations. When the automobile moves, we could tap into that wind energy to store a battery. That’s many more Billions of Watts of power at our disposal. We have the battery technology to sustain it, even though it is primitive. All we need is to connect the two dots together and vola, we have power to sustain the entire World. This may bring an end to our dependence on fossil fuels and this may be our only chance to prove ourselves.
Humanity is at a cross roads. We need to decide if we are going to continue to be fossil fuel dependent for the next 100 years or be fossil fuel free starting now. It’s our choice. The decision we take now will decide our very survival and the survival of our succeeding generations. It will also determine whether we will hand over a clean Planet or a dirty one. It will also determine whether we will be able to breathe at all, drink clean water and even grow food. It will also determine the future of our own life and the Life of our own Planet that supports Billions upon Billions of Plants and Animals.
Anything is possible and Nothing is Impossible. All we need to do is to set our mind to it and go for it. It’s our Life and Our only Home. Guess who is responsible to protect it? Would we dirty our own backyard or throw pollutants inside our own homes?
